BEAVER ISLAND MAD CAMP
MAD Camp returns July 18-22 in 2016 – theme Exploring Sherwood Forest
(Music, Art, Drama) Camp, held on Beaver Island each July for children ages 7 through 17, is a program of Experience the Arts, Inc., a Michigan non-profit organization. The MAD Camp mission is to engage kid’s hearts, minds, and imaginations through the arts; to try out and try on a variety of experiences; and to build a sense of community among campers, families, and friends. The goal of our day camp is to provide a unique, exciting, fun-filled and growing experience for every camper who attends. We help children discover their various talents and skills, and provide challenges that allow campers to experience the joy of success. Camp is held at the Beaver Island School from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and ends with a Friday night program at 7:00 p.m. that showcases what the campers have accomplished during the week. CYCLE LIFE EVENTS
The Beaver Island Bike Festival is your chance to experience the unique unspoiled beauty of Lake Michigan’s most remote island in a fun festival atmosphere. Our weekend starts on Friday night with a BYOB registration party including live music, wine tasting and a cool t-shirt. Saturday morning ride with your friends either 20 or 40 miles of natural scenery at your own pace. The route is on well marked dirt and gravel roads that take you past incredible shorelines, island monuments and historic sites. It is fully supported ride with mi-MO-sa stop, 2 official rest stops both with snacks and running water bathrooms and the famous McDonough’s Market beach lunch. Make sure to rest up when you get back to town because we plan to party throughout the night. Your registration fee includes the B-B-Q buffet on the deck at the Shamrock with great food and more live music. After dinner there is plenty of dancing and singing at all the island’s hot spots. YMCA CAMP ARROWHEAD – BEAVER ISLAND
Registration is now open for Camp Arrowhead! The YMCA of Northern Michigan is excited to extend our summer day camp program to Beaver Island. Camp Arrowhead runs from July 6th- August 7th (5 weeks). Families can sign up for one or more week(s) at a time. Camp runs Monday through Friday. Campers participate in activities such as sports & games, arts & crafts, archery, outdoor education, and so much more! Y camps foster a safe and nurturing environment where all children have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. Registration forms are available at the Community Center and the Community School. Registration forms must be returned to the Community School.
